There Is Hope

Our Story

Meet Alex & Jessica

A veteran family's journey from darkness to hope

12 Years of Service - USMC

Alex served proudly in the United States Marine Corps for 12 years. Like many who wear the uniform, he returned home carrying invisible wounds. Diagnosed with PTSD, Alex faced battles far different from those on the battlefield—battles that many don't survive.

The weight of his service became overwhelming when Alex lost four of his fellow service members to suicide and overdose. Each loss was a reminder of how fragile the line between hope and despair can be for veterans struggling with their mental health.

A Discovery That Changed Everything

At his lowest point, Alex discovered research that would change his life: Veterans with service dogs are 66% less likely to commit suicide and experience significant improvement in their PTSD symptoms—often without pharmaceutical intervention.

This revelation became the foundation of Dogs For Veterans Foundation. Together with his wife Jessica, Alex dedicated himself to ensuring no veteran has to face their battles alone. Their mission: to save lives through the unconditional love and support that only a service dog can provide.
